The Maewo Council of Chiefs are driving the Turi Ngwasoa Gathering: A celebration of food culture through regenerative agritourism and food tourism to support the preservation of traditional knowledge in collaboration with Regenerative Vanua. The Turi Ngwasoa Gathering is a 3-day event aimed at: 

  • Day 1: showcasing Maewo’s traditional food and farming culture 
  • Day 2: showcasing Vanuatu’s traditional and local cuisine 
  • Day 3: showcasing international cuisine using unique ingredients from Vanuatu 

The key purpose of the Turi Ngwasoa Gathering in Maewo is: 

  • to introduce producers to international buyers and key industry stakeholders Chefs to promote more exports from the Pacific Islands;
  • to promote regenerative Agritourism and food tourism experiences in Vanuatu centred on food culture and traditional farming experiences;
  • to develop partnership opportunities between Vanuatu and the Pacific through innovative exchange programmes and skills transfer.

The Turi Ngwasoa Gathering has a carrying capacity of 150 participants only to avoid impact on Maewo’s precious resources or communities.
